Wow. It’s been a long time! Thanks to the pandemic, we haven’t come together at West Coast Training Camp since 2019.
But now, the only national training camp with an official Cookie Break is back!
For those of you who have never experienced it – West Coast Training Camp is a very special (and super fun) weekend of training and socializing with top Cuong Nhu instructors from across the U.S. Join us Friday evening, October 14th, and all day Saturday, October 15th, in a training opportunity you do NOT want to miss!
WCTC is designed with all ages and ranks in mind. We especially encourage kids and teens to take part, as many of you will not be able to travel cross-country to attend Cuong Nhu’s annual international training camp in North Carolina next May.
- Meet and train with high ranking instructors from Florida, South Carolina, Arkansas, Georgia, New Jersey, Washington, Wisconsin… we encourage everyone to attend!
- Deepen your knowledge of the Cuong Nhu curriculum and gain new perspectives
- Get a taste of special martial arts topics – such as weapons and advanced katas – that you might not otherwise get to try in your regular classes!
This year will be a little different: We’ll be holding Black Belt and Dan Rank testing on Friday evening at Rohai Dojo. Come support the candidates and be inspired! This is a special opportunity for candidates to be tested by out-of-town instructors.
Classes will take place all day Saturday at the Ira Jinkins Rec Center in Oakland – site of our last highly successful WCTC in 2019. Each session will offer training choices for various rank levels and ages. Registration includes an on-site catered lunch, and (as mentioned above) an afternoon cookie break.
Parents: This is a great event for kids.
If you’re wondering whether your kids can last through a 9 to 5 day of training… they can! Our instructors are highly skilled and experienced at working with children. The schedule includes appropriate activities, break time, and skillful supervision. You can drop your kids off at the gym and leave with confidence – or you are welcome to stay and watch for all or part of the day!
Remember, we especially love to have children take part, because many local kids will be unable to attend Cuong Nhu’s national training camp, IATC, in North Carolina. WCTC is your chance to train with some of our top instructors, without having to fly across the country.

Travel tips: Your first choice is to fly to Oakland International Airport. However, San Francisco airport is 30 to 45 minutes away (no free shuttle, but it’s a short cab/uber/lyft ride from the Coliseum BART station).
